Wilson & Gilkes New Robotic Press Brake – Art to Part in 20 minutes

Better, Faster, Cheaper – Fabricated Sheet Metal Components

On display at Australian Manufacturing Week (AMW) 2023 was the new acquisition to the Wilson & Gilkes manufacturing facility, the LVD Dyna-Cell press brake. The robotic bending cell was extremely popular with visitors to the 2023 event. Each day of the event saw a continual stream of visitors using mobile phone video to capture the cutting-edge technology in action. The new machine automates the bending of small- to medium-sized parts in a fast and cost-efficient manner with utmost precision.

Why did we choose the LVD Dyna-Cell to use in our Wilson & Gilkes metal component production?

Shorter lead times – Art to Part in 20 minutes

Programming of the bending cell is incredibly fast and easy. It takes 10 minutes to generate the bending and robot program and 10 minutes for set-up and first part generation. No robot teaching at the machine is required. Wilson & Gilkes can supply fabricated sheet metal parts faster. For a bracket with four bends the process time can be as little as ten seconds.

Powered by LVD’s CADMAN-SIM software, Dyna-Cell produces a part in 20 minutes or less. It takes 10 minutes to automatically generate the bending and robot program and another 10 minutes for setup and first part production.

Increased capacity

Material, energy and labour costs continue to increase. The use of automation allows Wilson & Gilkes to free up capacity and use our skilled team across a range of processes. This technology will assist Wilson & Gilkes to stay competitive in a challenging environment of increasing costs.

Quality – The first bend is accurate every time

Wilson & Gilkes selected the option of Easy-Form® Laser adaptive bending. This ensures the first bend is accurate every time. The bend angle will always be consistent.
